LEAD COUNSELOR

Lead Counselors need to not only be strong in their subject matter, but they need to be confident in leading campers through an immersive week of hands on, project based learning.  Most importantly, Lead Counselors should have a genuine desire to work with kids and to teach. Lead Counselors need to be flexible, patient, high energy and able to have fun with the campers. If you posses these skills and are interested in being part of the Camp Me! team this summer read on!

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach key concepts in a variety of formats: hands-on, direct instruction, group work and one-on-one with students.
  • Utilize Camp Me! provided curriculum and resources, ensuring an organized, fun and rewarding experience for students.
  • Make changes/additions to curriculum during camp in order to improve overall class or to accommodate specific students or a changed timeline.
  • Teach with passion, structure and expertise, while guiding students through the completion of a personal project.
  • Collaborate with and oversee one or more Assistant Leads who will assist with group project work, one-on-one with students and/or lead a sub-group of students during the week.
  • Weekly and daily management of classroom/computers as necessary.
  • Organize parent showcase each Friday of your course, making sure to give valuable feedback to parents regarding their child’s experience and to encourage both students and parents to complete the online course/program survey.
  • Take part in weekly staff meetings, to occur after camp on a designated day each week.
  • Actively pursue opportunities to engage with students outside of class during breaks and lunch.
  • Participate in training before camp starts.
  • Train Assistant Leads in curriculum area and course resources as necessary.
  • Assist with set up before camp starts and classroom turnover at the end of each week as necessary.
  • Assist with student check in and orientation on Monday mornings.
  • Complete end-of-summer evaluations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA or BS degree or equivalent professional work and teaching experience.
  • Experience in the topics/courses for which you are applying to teach (preferred).
  • Classroom experience with students from K – 8th grade (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with both kids and parents.
  • Multiple Subject or Single Subject Teaching Credential (preferred).
  • Must clear DOJ criminal background check.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.

ASSISTANT LEAD

The Assistant Lead position at is often described as the “glue that holds each camp together.”  As an AL you’ll support many key components of camp from assisting lead instructors in the classroom to leading outdoor activities to making sure campers get to and from lunch safely.  In short, AL’s help provide a positive, successful and memorable experience for Camp Me! campers. Along with a passion for working with kids, Camp Me! AL’s must have an ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy and enthusiasm.  DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in a designated course or rotate between courses as needed throughout the day and week, working with campers in small groups and one-on-one to help them learn concepts and complete projects.
  • Work closely with lead instructors and other al’s to foster a fun, rewarding and positive learning environment.
  • Reach out to parents by communicating with them about their child’s experience.
  • Assist in camper check-in and checkout processes with a high level of enthusiasm.
  • Help facilitate and lead (optional) activities for students during break time.
  • Provide leadership, energy and camp spirit, constantly assessing group dynamics and the needs of individuals.
  • Supervise/escort students to, during and from lunch.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, students and parents.
  • Experience working with and instructing students ranging from grades K – 8th grade (preferred).
  • College experience  (at least one year preferred).
  • Must clear DOJ criminal background check.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.

COMPENSATION

Camp Me! is committed to competitively compensating staff.  Pay ranges are based on qualifications, and experience.  If you are selected for the interview process we will provide pay rates/ranges at that time.

Counselor in Training (CIT)

CIT’s are typically 7th grade to high school students, who have some experience working with kids and/or a desire to work with kids.  As a Summer CIT, you will be very involved in facilitating a successful, memorable and fun camp/learning experience for our campers each day. As a summer CIT, you’ll also get the opportunity of working daily with (and learning from) an amazing group of Lead Counselors, Assistants Counselors, while supporting our campers.
 
CIT’s should have patience and a fun and energetic attitude. Though it is not required, experience working with kids is a plus. The ideal CIT candidate should have a positive attitude, lots of energy.

 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work closely with the lead counselors to foster a fun, rewarding and positive learning environment.
  • Follow camp rules and procedures and ensure they are being followed by campers.
  • Provide leadership, energy and camp spirit as a role model.
  • Participate in morning and afternoon team time activities and songs.
  • Escort students to, during and from lunch.
  • Assist with daily set up & clean up of camp, and overall attentive in aiding activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Interest in personal growth and leadership training.
  • Experience working with children (preferred).
  • Fun, energetic and patient.
  • Must be from 7th grade to high school.

Once a CIT has completed their term, you will receive a letter of recommendation from Camp Me! as well as have a tree planted in a National Forest in your name!
